About the Trio
Songwriter / storyteller Doug Spears has spent more than three decades performing at festivals, listening rooms, and house concerts throughout Florida and across the United States. A fifth-generation Florida native, he writes about the people, places, and moments that shape us. His roots run deep, but his songs travel across regions and generations, exploring shared experiences of home, love, loss, perseverance, and hope. Expressive vocals, thoughtful lyrics, and the stories behind his songs are hallmarks of his performances.
Ron Litschauer is an accomplished guitarist and mandolin player whose experience spans bluegrass, folk, country, and classic rock. His versatility, quick ear, and instinct for finding just the right touch have made him a valued musical partner for numerous artists. Folk legend Tom Paxton chose Ron as his sideman for two Florida shows that also featured Odetta, Janis Ian, and Michael Jonathan. In the trio, Ron brings both inventive playing and a sensitivity to the heart of each song.
Bari Litschauer adds a distinctive musical voice through her banjo and tenor guitar playing. Her tasteful approach combines rhythmic drive with subtle intricacy, adding texture and character to the trio’s arrangements. As the owner and operator of The Amp Shop and Music Parlor in West Palm Beach, Bari has also been a longtime resource for other South Florida musicians seeking instruments, equipment, and repairs.
Ron and Bari have been on a musical adventure together for more than forty years. As a duo, with their Roadside Revue festival band, and alongside artists including Frank Thomas, Clyde Walker, and Amy Carol Webb, they have been mainstays at acoustic music festivals and venues throughout Florida and beyond. Their duo performances blend thoughtfully chosen folk and Americana favorites with their own original material—and, as Ron promises, audiences may leave “happier, smarter, and possibly a little better looking.”
Together, Doug, Ron, and Bari bring that same spirit of friendship and humor to the stage. Their performances give each musician room to contribute while keeping the songs and stories—and, most importantly, the audience—at the center of the experience.
